Automated Sage 50 Backup

Need to backup Sage 50 automatically?

This utility allows you to run an automatic Sage Backup or take a copy of the Sage Data at a time that suits you. Backups are often neglected because of the need for everyone to be logged out which invariably means that some one has to manually run the back up at the end of the day or it just doesn't get done.

Now you can automate the process from a simple scheduled task. Simply make sure the machine that is to run the backup is the only machine left logged into Sage and this utility will automatically run the backup at the appointed time. A Sage Data Check can also be run prior to the Sage Backup or alternatively take a zipped copy of the Sage Data (which doesn't need Sage to be running)

Regular Data Checks are essential in Sage. Undetected Corruptions can cost hundreds of pounds to fix and  you cannot use Sage for several days whilst the repairs are carried out. A daily check will identify a problem as soon as it happens allowing you to fix or restore to the last backup and at most loose one day's data.

Download a fully functional time limited  Trial version 1.4 (tested on Sage 2008 to Sage 2011 using XP, Vista and Windows 7) , Trial Version 1.7  (with scheduled task creation support) or the latest version 2.5 (recommended) which includes assistance on configuring Scheduled Tasks and support for Sage 2012, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.

The program will run as a standard Windows application or can be called from a script to run in the background. To use the command line option simply call SBSBackup.exe  /BACKUP: from the script, bat file or other program etc.

The program can also perform a Zip operation on the Sage Accdata folder rather than performing a conventional Sage Backup. This has the advantage of being faster and does not require Sage to be running. The program will check that the data is consistent (i.e. has not been modified during the Copy process)

Full Email notification, FTP Upload and Download are provided.

We’ve been using ‘Automated Sage 50 Back Up’ for about a month now and found that it saves us at least 20 minutes at the end of every day so it’s already paid for itself.

 

Rather than manually taking backup’s and off-site copies, we can now just run a command file and go home. The program runs the ‘Data Check’ procedure, creates the back up file and uploads a zipped copy to a free Dropbox account giving us our off-site backup, then the PC automatically shuts down. By the time I arrive home I receive an e-mail on my phone confirming that the back up was successful together with a screenshot of the ‘Check Data’ screen. By using the DropBox iPhone App I can see that the zipped backup file has been uploaded successfully. I can also download and restore our sage data onto any PC from Dropbox. It’s a great piece of software that takes care of this essential routine for us.
